Video about the Hungarian Living Lab
Three organisations – the Magház Association, the ESSRG and the Boldog Gellért Hospital – joined forces to draw up a plan, through a participatory process, to transform the hospital garden into a healing garden, and to take the first steps towards implementing this plan.
As part of the so-called Healing Garden Living Lab, this collaborative effort, which spanned nearly four years, the knowledge and experiences of the hospital staff and patients, as well as social researchers, biologists, horticultural and landscape architecture experts, and also the needs of both human and non-human users of the hospital garden, emerged as equally important considerations.
As a result of our work, the hospital garden as a natural habitat has begun to transform – it is increasingly effective in supporting treatment and recovery, whilst nature’s non-human inhabitants are also finding their place there more easily and receiving ongoing care. This film illustrates the spirit of participatory planning behind the healing garden.
The concept was developed jointly by members of ESSRG and Magház, and the video was produced with the involvement of staff from the three organisations.
