Empowering semiotic relations for multispecies city. Kick-off in Tartu
The Coevolvers Tartu team along with local residents, individuals interested in urban nature, experts, and representatives from several NGOs gathered at the historical Tartu Barge Hall situated at the river Emajõgi. The aim of the meeting was to discuss pertinent issues concerning urban nature in the Ülejõe, Raadi, and Kvissentali districts, and formulate a preliminary action plan for the following four years.

On September 2, the Pansio-Perno Living Lab hosted a movie screening event at the lush and beautiful Pansio Kisapuisto in Turku, as part of a film festival. The event was the perfect platform to showcase the Coevolvers project – sensitising the local community about the significance of Finnish wildlife and their natural habitats.

The kick-off meeting of the Catalan Living Lab
On April 20, 2023, the COEVOLVERS Living Lab in Catalonia kicked off, focusing on the reduction of fire risk through the promotion of grazing strategic areas in the Wildland–Urban Interface (WUI) of the Baix Llobregat territory and Collserola mountain. A meeting gathering key stakeholders took place at the offices of the Llobregat Agricultural Park.

The recovery of biodiversity requires a permanent change in human practices, which has proved difficult. Our COEVOLVERS project studies ways to speed up change. The first COEVOLVERS Living Lab Kick-off meeting took place in the cross-border region Beskydy, in Velké Karlovice on 21 February, 2023. The 16 participants represented municipalities, the tourism industry, nature protection authorities, forest regional authorities, state administration at NUTS III level, regional agencies, and NGOs.

Meeting in Tartu
We spent three days in Tartu, where we were hosted by our Estonian partner, the University of Tartu. Very important ethical issues were discussed and a role board game developed by our partners from the Slovak Academy of Sciences and Cetip Network was tested. We also participated in the conference “Contemporary Umwelt Analysis: Applications for Culture and Ecological Relations”.
